Generative AI Assistance for IT Professionals and Developers Now Available in Amazon Q Preview
November 28 2023
Amazon has introduced the preview of Amazon Q, an AI-powered assistant crafted specifically for professionals to streamline developing and maintaining applications on AWS. Amazon Q leverages 17 years of AWS expertise to assist at every stage of the software development lifecycle, offering recommendations for AWS services, troubleshooting errors, and optimizing workloads. It can upgrade Java applications, help with EC2 instance selection, and troubleshoot networking or console errors. With the conversational Q&A feature integrated across AWS Management Consoles, mobile apps, documentation, and communication channels like Slack and Teams, developers and IT experts can receive immediate, context-specific guidance within their current environment. Additionally, Amazon Q is integrated within IDEs to provide coding assistance and within Amazon CodeCatalyst to aid feature development, building features from prompts, and generating pull request workflows. This new service also includes a code transformation feature to upgrade Java applications, with the goal of boosting productivity and fostering innovation without leaving the development workflow. The Q interface even allows direct engagement with AWS Support agents for further assistance, making it a comprehensive tool for AWS application development and support.
