Google Bard is now called Gemini and supports the Ultra 1.0 model
February 8 2024
Google has recently rebranded its AI chatbot previously known as Bard to Gemini, coinciding with the redirection of its official page to a new URL that exclusively mentions Gemini. This change aligns with Google’s aim to integrate the Gemini series into its artificial intelligence ecosystem, showcasing the company’s latest technological advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs). These advancements include the introduction of models in three sizes—Nano, Pro, and Ultra—with the latter being touted as the most powerful LLM developed thus far, surpassing even GPT-4. Although the core chatbot experience remains largely the same, the rebranding has introduced a version named ‘Gemini Advanced’, which is powered by the Ultra 1.0 model offering superior capabilities for complex tasks. However, access to this advanced model is limited to subscribers of the Google One AI Premium Plan, raising questions about the availability and regional access to this more powerful version.
